About Shukuru

Shukuru is a non-profit organization that provides vulnerable girls in sub-Saharan Africa to pay their own way through school with entrepreneurial training and a unique micro-savings, donor-matching model. Rather than hope for a hand-out, Shukuru teaches girls to be the solution to their problems. The organization is headquartered in San Francisco; its pilot project is based in Tanzania with plans to expand to other developing countries where girls are disproportionately blocked from continuing their education.
